Supply and Installation of Handrail to Existing Steps

The Parish Council invites quotations for the supply and installation of a handrail to serve an existing pedestrian stepway. The handrail is required to improve accessibility and safety for users of the steps.

The works shall include:

Site measurement and design of a suitable handrail for the location.

Supply and installation of a robust handrail extending along the length of the steps.

The handrail shall be constructed in a traditional wrought iron or wrought iron-effect design appropriate to the historic character of the site.

The design, finish and appearance shall be sympathetic to the surrounding area and suitable for a Conservation Area setting.

Provision of all posts, fixings, foundations and associated materials necessary for a secure installation.

Treatment and finishing of all metalwork to provide long-term protection against corrosion, including a painted or powder-coated finish in an agreed colour.

Making good of any disturbed surfaces following installation.

Removal of all waste materials from site and leaving the area clean and tidy on completion.

Contractors should satisfy themselves as to site conditions prior to submitting a quotation and include all labour, materials, plant, disposal costs and any other expenses necessary to complete the works.

The completed installation shall provide a safe, durable and visually appropriate handrail that enhances accessibility while respecting the character of the Conservation Area.
